A struggling playwright, Eliot Stray, stumbles upon a forgotten manuscript buried in the back of a dusty second-hand bookstore. It's an unfinished epic poem about an ancient king with the power to transform into a lizard. As Eliot reads, strange things begin to happen. Shadows in his apartment slither across the walls, and his dreams are plagued by visions of a reptilian monarchy. His obsession deepens when he realizes that the manuscript isn’t fiction—someone, or something, is rewriting history to erase the Lizard King's existence. As Eliot works to finish the story, he finds his own life merging with the ancient tale. Desperate to uncover the truth, he seeks help, but even book marketing services can’t shield him from the growing terror closing in on him.
